IC-7000: HSEND and VSEND on ACC plug
Dear all,
I run a IC-7000 and recently switched from a PTC-IIe (using the 9pin mini-DIN "DATA" plug of the IC-7000) to a PTC-IIusb. While the "old" cable works still fine for everything but it cannot power the PTC-IIusb (of course).
Buying the new PTC-IIusb, I ordered a connection cable (part #8110) which uses the 13pin ACC plug of the IC-7000. I simply like the idea of having no external power needed for the PTC - especially as I use Bluetooth now.
But the IC-7000 has two PTT connections on the ACC: "HSEND" (for HF) and "VSEND" for 144MHz and above.
While PACTOR, PSK, etc. on HF works fine with the new cable, Packet Radio on 430 MHz doesn't, the PTT is not triggered. So I assume only HSEND is pulled to GND with the 8110 cable.
Haven't checked yet if the cable connects VSEND to the PTC, but would there be any possiblity to tell the PTC to trigger this? The SCS manual just referes to one PTT line (page 14, table 3.3).

I offer the following for your evaluation. My equipment setup probably differs from yours. Use entirely at your own risk or not at all.
This is part of what I did on my IC-7000 to make Packet function in the 144 MHz band (I suspect the setting may also pertain to 440 MHz Packet):
1. Pressed "Set" button (at upper left corner). "SET MODE" appeared in a red banner in LCD.
2. Pressed "F-4" (was under the "OTH" in LCD). "OTHERS SET" appeared in a red banner in LCD.
3. Pressed "F-1"/"F-2" as required to get to Menu Item 20 - VSEND. A white "20" appeared between the upwards- and downwards-facing triangles, and "VSEND Select" became highlighted in the centre of the LCD.
4. Turned the Tuning Knob back and forth as required to make "OFF" appear in the highlighted part of the LCD to the right of "VSEND Select". I heard a sound resembling the clicking of a small relay.
5. Pressed "Set" button twice to exit from the SET MODE.
Note: My IC-7000 offers three settings for VSEND: "ON", "UHF only", and "Off".

thanks a lot! That helped!!!! PTT is triggered now.
However, I have the impression that the audio is much poorer modulated to HF when you use the ACC plug instead of the DATA plug, at least for 1k2 AFSK packet (couldn't check for 9k5 FSK yet). PACTOR works great with both connection types, but the local digipeater has real problems with my signal when I use the ACC connection (and I checked the NF voltage levels). Maybe some filters which are not broad enough for AFSK? Do you ever had the chance to compare that for packet?
Thanks again!
Best regards,
Torsten
