DR-7800 PSK and FSK levels
This is likely a dumb question, but until now I've only done soundcard modes. This is my first TNC of any kind. I recently bought the P4 Dragon DR-7800 and have finally had some time to play with it. I got it working with RMS Express and Airmail, but for some reason I can't get SCSmail to run on my machine. No matter, I will sooner or later. I've made connections and sent emails, but my ALC is nearly maxed out so I know that I'm over-driving. Here comes the dumb question part - I see a brief section in the manual about setting PSKampl and FSKampl values along with the appropriate commands to enter in order to change the settings. My question is: Where do I enter these commands? I haven't found anything resembling a "dumb" terminal mode in any of the software that will let me enter such commands.
Also, what else can I do with it other than send email via HF? I'm beginning to think I should have bought a lower model that has more modes, etc...
Thanks,
Bruce

RSM Express: Setup/TNC Setup you can change fska es pska levels here.
With EasyTransfer / GAMMA Reloaded we can exchange pictures with a high speed.
Other software is: Simple GOLD, Alpha etc
Where is your location ?

Thanks Peter,
I should have mentioned - I found these settings in the TNC setup menu and set them all the way down to 5 with no luck. My ALC is still off the scale and since I am using the data port on my Yaesu FT-450 I have no way of adjusting the gain there. I was hoping there was a way to set the ampl in the hardware on the TNC itself. Part of the problem may be that on the RMSexpress software that I have there is no selection for the DR-7800 so I selected PCT II pro. Perhaps this setting simply doesn't work with the DR-7800? None of the others seem to either, though. :(

Hi Bruce,
:: My question is: Where do I enter these commands?
You can find "FSKA" and "PSKA" commands when you type"help" on the terminal software.
Default value for FSKA is 100 and PSKA is 120.
I connect my P4Dragon to FT-2000D / Yaesu (packet connector) and my FSKA value is 60 to 100. ALC meter never swings.
Hope the above be helpful.
Kind regards,
