I can't get back to firmware 3.5
I have not been on digital in a couple of years of more. I found the old software that I had used in the past called Ncwinptc and I got it up and running. I looked again on the SCS website and saw that there was a firmware 4.0 available and I installed it unknowing that I need 2 g ram in my PTCII. I thought it meant on my computer which has 4 gigs in my new laptop, Now the PTC says low memory and I can't find a 3.5 firmware to go back to on the PTC site. It lists 3.9 that should work on mine with the 512 ram but I can't get the Ncwinptc to connect with it. It talks about getting the handshaking going and I have no idea what they are taking about. I have downloaded the tiny 4.0 or 3.9 as they call the software for the 512 ram models like mine but no luck. Help, please!!!

I got a quick answer to my dilemma from calling Farallon radio in California and talking to Gary Wood who did not have the answer, but said to e-mail Martin Clas at SCS in Germany who would, and would answer that same day.
Martin wrote to turn the bottom switches 7 and 8 on, after shutting the modem off, and down load the SCS down loader from their site, I updated the tiny 4.0 firmware easily. Then I shut off the modem and reset the switches 7 and 8 back to off. Turning the SCS modem back on the modem updated, and restarting the Ncwinptc, everything is working perfectly and I am back on the air digitally after a several year absence.

Did you happen to learn which version will support robust mode with only 512kb RAM? I'm just learning about Pactor and have two 512 kb modems. Apparently one had 3.6 on it with robust mode (until I upgraded it...grrr) and the other version 2.3 without robust mode. Apparently robust mode is possible with only 512kb RAM because I was doing it but no longer with 4.0. I'd like to upgrade them both to latest version that supports robust mode.
