GLN-Mail Program

The GLN mail program is middleware linking a POP3 mail program through a SCS modem to the GLN network.

Tested with:

GLN-Mail scans the relevant GLN channels as defined by the user and receives the traffic lists. The algorithms to scan many popular marine radio transceivers are included in the program. Salient features are:

  • User friendly interface to  a POP3 email program (Outlook, Outlook express, Thunderbird, MS Vista mail program)
  • Runs on the Microsoft  XP and MS Vista operating system
  • Interfaces to Pactor Modems (II pro, IIe, IIex, II USB)
  • Scan algorithms to many popular marine transceivers are included 
  • Scans GLN channels around a position (manual or GPS input) within a user selected radius
    Selects best available channel of scanned channel
  • User can select bands to be scanned
  • Frequency list can be corrected or augmented manually
  • Receives traffic list automatically and indicates occurrence of own call sign
  • Includes a dumb terminal program to monitor the Pactor modem
  • Includes the ability to update firmware in the Pactor modem
